Annual Sewer Debt Increase
June 12, 2023 Sewer debt customers you will notice an increase in your 2023-2024 Sewr Debt bill. This is due to mandatory changes to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The DEC is rquiring the Village to add new UV Santiation Processing System. This project will unfortunatley add additonal debt to our sewer loans. If the Village fails to comply with the required update we will be put under orders to comply and fined costing more in the end. |

Storm Damage
September 20, 2022 In light of the storm damage please be patient with us as we help with the clean up. If you have fallen limbs and/or brush on your property, please take them out to the road making sure you are not obstructing either the road or the sidewalk. The DPW will be making their rounds to pick these up throughout the upcoming weeks.

Leaf Collection
December 14, 2020 Leaf collection for the year has now ended. The Village will no longer be going around and picking up leaves is front of homes. However, leaves are still being accepted at the Village shop if brought in person. Just a friendly reminder the brush and leaf drop off at the shop is for Village Residents only.

Brush Pick up and drop off notice
May 05, 2020 As of mid April, the Village DPW gates have been closed during non-business hours. This is due to the on going abuse of the Village brush drop off at the Village barns. The Village provides this drop off location for Village of Wayland residents only, not contractors working for Village residents. We accept brush, leaves and grass clippings. This is not a drop off location for whole trees, stumps, brick, block, concrete, animal feces, animal carcass and absolutley NO garbage. The DPW hours for the summer are Monday-Thursday 6:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 6:30am to 10am. Closed on Holidays including observed holidays, hours may vary on Holiday weeks. We apologize for the incconveniance and hope to get back to a point where we can leave the gates open again.
The Village has and will continue weekly pick up service of brush, leaves and clippings at curbside until leaf season begins in October. Brush must be in manageable lenghts of no more than six feet stacked in the same direction. Please place leaves and clippings in containers that can be dumped. We will not pick up/ dispose of whole trees, stumps, brick, block, concrete, animal feces, animal carcass and absolutley NO garbage. Weekly pick up will be Mondays weather and work schedule dependent.

Changes to Village Office Conduct of Business
March 23, 2020 The Village of Wayland Office will be closed to the public as on Monday March 23,2020 and until further notice. Water Project Update
August 14, 2019 All the water main has been successfully installed. They are continuing to do individual services on Third Ave., Scott St., Hamilton, St., W. Naples St., Washington and S. Main St. As the new individual services are completed please be patient with any service interruptions as the old water main is shut down. Restoration has begun but is no where near complete. As always we thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this project.

Water Project Update
July 11, 2019 As the water project is moving along we would like to inform you of the upcoming areas to be affected. Main replacement has begun on South Lackawanna St., this will be from S. Main to the red light. Charles street from Lincoln and Mill street from S. Lackawanna to S. Main will also be getting the new mains installed. On Bush Ave, Shults St., and N. Lackawannna the individual services to the new main will be finished up. As always we thank you for your patience and understanding during this project. The clean up portion is to begin soon.

Local Law Regarding Curfew
July 11, 2019 NOTICE The Village of Wayland will be enforcing LOCAL LAW #2 of 1991. The law is JUVENILE NOCTURNAL CURFEW. This law states that any minor under the age of 16 years old that is out in the public of the Village of Wayland after 10:00pm until daylight, unsupervised, will be in violation of said law. It shall be unlawful for the parent or guardian of said child to allow or permit such minor to violate the Local Law and be held accountable. Copy of the entire law is available at the Village Office. This local law will be strictly enforced and can be enforced by any local law enforcement official. |
Summer Hours
June 13, 2019 The Village Office Summer Hours will be: Monday-Thursday 9a-4p Friday 8a-12p they will run July 12th through September 6th.
The week of Fourth of July the office will have extended hours Monday-Wednesday 8a-4:30p with the office being closed on July 4th and 5th. |
Water Project Update
May 20, 2019 Now that the Water Main Project is is full swing it will be moving to new areas within the next 2 weeks. The next areas of the Village to have work done will be Washington Street from West Naples to St. John Street, Third Avenue, Second Avenue and Helen Place. April 29, 2019 Water main instillation will be starting on North Lackawanna St. from the red light to the Dollar General and on West Naples St. from the red light to Wayland-Cohocton School. As always in a construction zone we ask that you proceed with caution and give yourself any extra time you may need to get through this area as the road will be limited to a single lane. Water Project Update
April 10, 2019 The water project construction is moving along quicker than anticipated, with that being said the Village is trying its best to make residents aware of upcoming work on their streets. If you see any materials, equipment or markings on your street or near your area that would be a good indication that work will be starting soon. If you have any questions or concerns you can call the Village Office.
The project has now moved to Bush Avenue, Shults, East Naples and Lincoln Streets. Lincoln street is only being done from the intersection of East Naples to Mill Streets.

Water Project Update
March 29, 2019 With the water project being back in progress here is an update of what is going on and what will be coming up within the next few weeks.
Water mains have been installed and will be charged with water on the following streets, Pine, Water, Hamilton, Fremont, Clark, Second and Third Avenues. The next steps for these streets will be individual services being tied into the main. If you have a galvanized water service the Village highly recommends replacing your service at this time. If you are unsure of the type or shape of your service and would like the Village to inspect it, please call the Village Office at 728-2800 to be added to the list.
The next section of the Village to have the mains installed will be Granger Rd, East Avenue and Weinhart Street. They will be starting in those areas effective 4/1/19. |
